Spectator fog of war

Is it possible to limit the spectators view to what one team (e.g. Team A) can see? I have always wondered if that would be hard to implement. It would be especially nice if you coach a team and since the game recieves a lot of updates I think its the right time to ask if this is at all possible.

That would be amazing for pubs. I can really see it being a helpfull system.

Rookie servers with skillcap for players BUT no skillcap for team-based spectators who can see one team and talk to them via voice or team chat.

I would love to see that implemented. There are quite a few players (like me), who enjoy teaching rookies the game and increasing the playerbase. And I bet many rookies would enjoy it aswell :)

I would say in comp it would be really helpful too... having a more experienced player be able to help out during PCWs without knowing what the enemy is doing I think is a good thing... being coached and guided in this way during PCWs could potentially increase the skill of many players and many teams in general without making the opponent feel cheated/like training dummies.

You are right. That would be the perfect teaching scenario in my opinion. Fighting a better team, but having an experienced player help you out with comments and tactics.

This seems like a similar idea to coaching that games like TF2 have. The only way I can see it would be bad is people in spec trolling.

tbh, that is already possible... not only is it possible, but its possible to a much worse extent than if it were limited to "per team" speccing... i'm not sure how it would work but I encourage the "fog of war" be mandatory in all situations unless the person has "caster permissions" where he/she can see both teams simultaneously.

this is pretty much what happens on cs go Lan games they have 5 people lined up on pcs next to each other with headsets and a guy n6 behind them with headset that coaches live.
(sounds like the commander but thats not my point)

My Point is this 1 Guy coaching could be 1 of the Team or somebody that want to helps the Team
If 1 Guy has nothing else to do then focusing on whats going and and coordnating from the commander/any perspective his calls are much better beside it shows people what needs to be called when.

I'd love to see that and it's one of the things i recommended on the UWE Forums in the thread where they discussed what features would make the game more rookiefriendly.
Having this is what makes experienced players teach a bunch of rookies w/o unbalancing their game and it would even be helpfull for experienced comp players teaching newer/more unexperienced teams.

do you have a link for that? I want to support it and voice my appreciation for this idea. I think we all should. The community is small. If a bunch of active players from NSL speak up, this might actually get implemented soon :)

I have been teaching rookies from september-november, trying to make balanced games, giving them tips, being nice and supportive. A tool like that would help SO much!

I believe the only reason it works in CSGO, is due to 16+ rounds being played - theres time in between rounds for feedback. In NS2, there really isn't any good time for feedback, and teams generally dont discuss the game while its going; Only after.

I dont see the big point in such a "coach" role, as spectator mode already forfills it more than enough. If you want to know what information the team actually has, listen to their communication.

I talked to BeigeAlert, he will be pushing this feature a bit in the near future :)
